My teaching centers on environmental humanities, 20th and 21st century Anglophone literature and culture, aesthetic theory, and popular culture.  I am the recipient of the Ronald and Deborah Ratner Distinguished Teaching Award, College of Arts & Sciences of the Ohio State University, the Paul W. Brown Award for Undergraduate Teaching, the English Undergraduate Organization Professor of the Year, and the Care and Compassion Award from the Center for Ethics and Human Values.  I have co-directed field schools in Antarctica (2017) and Louisiana (2019).
